Mt Cook School

Project Description

Although open since late 1875, Mt Cook School has never had a school hall. This new building was constructed to give the school and community a gathering place for sports, arts and social events

Requirement and specification

The new hall required a SFI/SDI of 2/5 on the strand board and also, a hard wearing paint finish. Design Group Stapleton Elliott was familiar with Zone’s CAP and Zolatone products and specified both to fulfill these requirements.

Outcome

The CAP800 Intumescent Coating and CAP827 Top Coat were applied to the strand board by Paul Reddish Decorators. This CAP system prevents spread of flame and smoke development in the event of a fire, without impacting the look or colour of the strand board. The Zolatone Polomyx Airless was then applied on another area of the hall by Chris Geany. The multifleck finish will help disguise any scuffs or marks which the wall may incur.
