Firezone

Specified for: Interior linings
Substrate Requirements: Various
Fire Rating: Group 1-S and Various FRR
Product Type: Pigmented intumescent coating

FireZone 52 is a white pigmented intumescent which is used over various substrates including timber, plasterboard, fibrous plaster, fibre cement board and lath and plaster. The product develops a thick char when exposed to fire, which insulates the substrate from heat.

FireZone 52 has been upgrading timber and various other interior linings for 15 years. Typical applications include upgrading heritage buildings to protect existing historic details or reduce project timeframes and construction waste by upgrading existing ceilings and walls. It is also a great option as a cost effective solution to achieve a painted finish with a Group 1S fire rating on timber substrates.

The system consists of an adhesion primer to seal off the existing substrate and coatings, intumescent base coat applied at the correct thickness, and acrylic topcoat of your choice to match existing or new paint finishes.

Performance

FireZone 52 has been tested on a variety of substrates to achieve a range of fire ratings. Due to the large variety of wall and ceiling structural design over the years, for FRR upgrades your project fire engineer may need to sign off the use of FireZone 52 on your project. Our specialists are experienced working through this process for your project. Supporting data is available for the council and your project fire engineer on request.

Application

FireZone 52 is applied onsite by a FireZone approved applicator. The system is best applied by spray application due to the nature of the product. For further details please refer to the latest FireZone 52 TDS.

Sustainability

FireZone 52 is a water-based product, with low VOC.

When used on existing wall and ceiling linings such as standard plasterboard, or existing fibrous plaster to achieve current FRR requirements, rather than replacing with new FRR rated linings, construction waste can be significantly reduced.
